Kern Energy Watch is a joint program of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company, the County of Kern, and participating municipalities. Our mission is to reduce energy use throughout the county by providing residents, businesses and local governments with information about improving the energy efficiency of buildings and facilities; training industry professionals to incorporate energy efficiency into their practices; and the direct installation of energy efficient equipment in local government facilities and businesses.
Local governments are key allies in creating more sustainable communities because they are in a unique position to impact the following:
Efficient use of energy in the building retrofit and management of municipal facilities (buildings, street lights, fleet vehicles)
Support for energy efficiency and sustainability in community planning, building codes and permits
Educating the community to the benefits of saving energy
